For anyone that wishes to fly direct to Le Mans, the nearest International airport to Le Mans is Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG). Whilst Air France is the national carrier, most international airlines will also operate a service in and out of Paris, either directly or with one of their partner airlines. Air fares can be tricky to predict, so we would always recommend booking your flights as early as possible to get the best choice of availability. Travel Destinations can assist you with booking flights from certain airlines, however many people like book their own flights if they wish to plan an extended stay before or after the event.

From Paris, getting to Le Mans is relatively easy. You can either hire a car and drive to the circuit, or take a train.

If you opt to drive you will take a 150-mile trip which should take around three hours. Having a hire car, of course, means you have the added benefit of independence and the chance to take a drive into Le Mans centre, or two and from your accommodation if you choose to stay off site. It also makes transporting your luggage easier, and travel to your next destination if you plan to extend your trip. The rail network in France is covers every corner of the country with regular services every day of the week to most destinations. SNCF is the national train operator and tickets are usually available to purchase three months prior to travel. A good website for train information and tickets is www.raileurope.com and these can be booked separately. If you are travelling to Le Mans directly from the airport then it is possible to get a train that goes directly to Le Mans without any changes. Alternatively if you are choosing to spend some time in Paris, then there is a fast train (TGV) from Paris Montparnasse to Le Mans in less than hour. This service will need to be reserved in advance.

Once you have arrived at Le Mans station, then you will need to become acquainted with Le Mans tram system. Fortunately this is quite straight forward. Tickets can be purchased from a machine adjacent to the tram stop at the train station (the machines can show details in English as well as other languages). The Le Mans circuit is the terminus at the end of the line to the south of Le Mans town making it easy to navigate to.
